We’ve walked you through our approach as we head into the next Trump administration. We have to be more disciplined, more focused, and more efficient. We can’t jump on every single crisis Trump manufactures, because that’s part of his strategy — distraction.

VoteVets is going to be working hard to focus your attention on what truly matters, and where we can have a definite impact.

One piece of that is taking shape before our eyes. In advance of taking office, Trump’s National Security Advisor announced sweeping terminations of experienced, apolitical professionals from the National Security Council. It’s a purge of those deemed to be disloyal to MAGA, plain and simple.

Now that Trump occupies the White House, those efforts have expanded. Yesterday, he started by firing Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Linda Fagan. By all accounts an effective and seasoned leader, Trump viewed her as insufficiently loyal — so, she’s out the door.

To be clear, Trump has ultimate authority over these senior leadership positions. He has the power to dismiss officers. But he is not immune to the consequences.

These purges will have direct impacts on morale, on recruitment, and on the retention of qualified and experienced leadership. They will have serious and lasting impacts on National Security. We will all be worse off — and that is why it is so important that we sound off on this.
