As a concerned member of the community, friend, it’s important that we know where you stand on the issues that matter most. That’s why we want to ask you one important question today:

Do you think it is important to uplift parent voices in education?
[YES] [link removed]
[NO] [link removed]

Throughout UNCF’s 80-year existence, we have known one thing to be true: Collective voice and action—especially from parents—is consequential for enduring change in education.

From our latest report in the UNCF Perceptions Research Series, “Hear Us, Believe Us: Centering African American Parent Voices in K-12 Education," we demonstrate the following: Black parents are present, engaged and ready to uplift their voices for change.

- 93% of African American parents would like more opportunities to be involved in their child’s education and more input into education laws.

- Over 80% check their child’s homework and speak to their child’s teacher on a regular basis.

- But only 30% of Black parents of students in grade six or higher said schools were doing a very good job providing them with information on how to pay for and apply to college.

Each year, we award more than $65 million in scholarships to more than 12,000 students, and we also partner with 37 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to ensure they have the resources they need to help students succeed. And we serve as the nation’s leading advocate for African American education and community engagement.

At our core, we believe that every American deserves equal access to a college education that prepares them for a rich and fulfilling life, and the work we do with HBCUs is in service of this mission. But we want to know how you feel, friend. Take 60 seconds to fill out our Member Priorities Survey and share your thoughts:

Do you think it is important to uplift parent voices in education?

Thank you so much for becoming a part of the UNCF community and sharing your thoughts with us today.
