Dear John,
Strengthening the education system for Americans of all ages has been a top priority of mine since I was first elected to Congress in 1993.
I have been proud to support legislation to prevent teacher layoffs, provide before and after school programs for our students, repair public school facilities, expand Head Start for preschool-aged children, and provide tax credits to make college affordable for so many families.
Now, the challenges to the education system look different. Classes happen at home, school renovations are on hold, and the future is uncertain. But my goal has stayed the same:
Every single child should receive a high-quality education without putting their family in debt.
As Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee focused on Rural Development, I am working hard in Congress to make distance learning accessible to rural communities that lack adequate access to broadband. I’m advocating for student loan forgiveness and interest suspension. I am fighting for teachers, librarians, and all the vital workers who keep educating our kids, even when everything is changing.
John, will you support my campaign for reelection so I can keep working hard for education?

Looking to the future,
Congressman Sanford Bishop
