TELL CONGRESS: Elon Musk was center stage at Trump’s inauguration. He’s ready to attack public services that people rely on, like public media. In fact, he went after NPR again recently, calling it taxpayer-funded propaganda. Musk’s war on public media won’t end until he defunds NPR and PBS, but we can’t let him succeed. Sign the petition: Don’t let Musk slash funding to NPR and PBS!

Hi,

Musk was front and center during Trump’s inauguration, where he made an apparent Nazi salute.1 He now has the power to go after critical government programs and public services like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and public media like NPR and PBS.

Referring to NPR recently, Musk said, “Taxpayer money should not be used to fund propaganda."2 It’s a reckless attack on a trusted source of news.

Musk wants to slash funding for NPR and PBS. Destroying public journalism will only give rise to more right-wing propaganda and disinformation. That’s exactly what Musk, Trump, and the GOP want.

Sign the petition: Protect NPR and PBS! Musk is “gunning” for public media, but Congress must save its funding.

The GOP has called to defund public broadcasting before, but it hasn’t ultimately been cut. Now, the increased scale and intensity of the attacks by Trump and Musk has NPR itself reporting “it would be unwise to assume that events will play out as they have in the past.”3

Trump’s war on the media paired with Musk’s drive to destroy public services is a dangerous combination. Our lawmakers must stand up for public media and against the effort to undermine journalism.

Add your name: Save NPR and PBS from Musk and Trump!

Thanks for taking action,

Joey and the team at Demand Progress
