John,

Did you see Beto’s email from yesterday?

Trump was just sworn in as President of the United States. The stakes
could not be higher right now, so we want to be sure you have a chance to
read Beto’s message from yesterday:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

John,

Today, Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States.

I know this is a difficult moment for many of us who have fought so hard
for a different future for Texas and for America.

But I want to share something with you that gives me hope, even on this
challenging day. Throughout 2024, our Powered by People volunteers worked
tirelessly across Texas, meeting, registering, and staying in touch with
young Texans through genuine person-to-person connections on college
campuses and in their communities.

Our volunteers met these voters in person, and then followed up with them
in personal peer-to-peer text conversations, over 285,000 individual
messages that helped first-time voters navigate polling locations,
answered questions about voter ID requirements, and offered encouragement
in the face of Texas's notorious voter suppression tactics.

Today marks a choice. We can give in to despair, or we can choose action.
And if there's one thing I've learned in all my years of organizing in
Texas, it's that action is the antidote to despair.

The challenges ahead are significant. Trump and his allies have made it
clear they want to drag our country backward – threatening reproductive
rights, blocking common-sense gun reform, and undermining the very
foundations of our democracy. But remember: they want us to give up.
They're counting on our discouragement.

Instead, we're going to build on the infrastructure and relationships we
created in 2024. We're going to expand our reach, deepen our connections,
and continue the patient, persistent work of organizing – voter by voter,
conversation by conversation.

This isn't just about opposing Trump. It's about fighting for our vision
of what Texas and America can be. It's about protecting the rights and
dignity of every person in our state. It's about building a future worthy
of our children's highest aspirations.

John, I know
the road ahead looks daunting. But I've seen the power of what we can
accomplish when we stay focused, stay committed, and stay in the fight
together. [ [link removed] ]Will you join us in continuing this vital work?

The next four years will test us in ways we can hardly imagine. But I've
never been more certain that the future belongs to those willing to do the
patient, persistent work of building it. And I've never been more grateful
to be in this fight alongside you.

Let's get to work,

Beto
