Dear Florida Republicans,
Republicans across the state of Florida ran in 2024 on the promise of doing everything they could to end the illegal immigration crisis once and for all. And now, with President Trump in the White House and Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, we have a historic opportunity to do just that.
Last week, I called upon the legislature to convene in a special session on January 27th to tackle illegal immigration, strengthen the integrity of our elections process, address mounting concerns regarding condominium costs, and provide much-needed disaster relief for our farmers and fishermen.
I was shocked to seethe response from Republican leaders in the legislature who claimed that it is “premature” to deliver on the promises we made to voters and that action on immigration can wait. Some have even gone so far as to silence members of my administration who are eager to share the ongoing hidden consequences of unmitigated illegal immigration with the public.
But they could not be more wrong. Voters are tired of politicians who campaign one way, only to backtrack on their promises once elected into office. Americans cannot wait any longer; Florida must not wait any longer. No more excuses; no more delays. The time for talk is over. Now is the time to act.
I urge you to contact your state legislatorsand let them know that you support President Trump and want them to do everything in their power to help him make America Great Again by convening a special session of the state legislature on January 27th to take immediate action to curb the illegal immigration crisis.
We must always put Floridians first, and that means acting today toaddress issues impacting Floridians in communities across the state. Florida is well-positioned to be a force multiplier in assisting President Trump to enact his America-First agenda, but this will require all of us to show up and get the job done.
There isn’t a second to waste. Florida must lead. Every day that this crisis remains unchecked is another opportunity for crime to occur and acts as a hurdle for President Trump’s important mission in Washington. Making America Great Again requires action at the state level, and with your help, we will get the job done.
