The masks are off.
As if there was ever any doubt about the levels to which Trump and the MAGA movement have embraced white nationalists, Elon Musk made it explicitly clear yesterday when he gave a “Roman salute” (aka a Nazi salute) during a speech at an inauguration rally, mere hours after Trump had taken the oath of office. And Musk did it not once, but twice.

Let’s not mince words – this wasn’t subtle, it wasn’t ambiguous, and it wasn’t acceptable. The gesture has already been embraced by neo-Nazi groups as a rallying cry, sparking celebrations among extremists who see Musk’s actions as validation of their hateful ideology. [1, 2]
Unfortunately, many organizations and media outlets are already trying to downplay this. They’re too afraid to call out Musk’s actions for what they were.
We cannot let this go unanswered. Every act of extremism must be met with united resistance. By supporting our work, you are standing up against hate and ensuring that voices of decency and justice drown out the echoes of fascism.
The hateful actions didn’t stop there yesterday – Trump signed a series of executive orders that will target vulnerable communities.
- Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences for all January 6 insurrectionists, some of whom are well-known white nationalists, who will now be free to continue spreading their messages of fear, hate, and division.
- Trump declared a "national emergency" at the southern border, reviving his most extreme immigration policies and attempting to gut birthright citizenship – a direct attack against the Constitution.
- Trump launched an assault on trans rights, ordering the federal government to recognize only "two sexes" – eliminating legal protections for trans people and stripping Title IX rights.
- And that’s just the beginning…
If we don’t act now, this will only escalate. Trump and his allies are making their intentions clear – and we need to be just as clear in our resistance.
History has shown us what happens when fascism is met with silence. We refuse to be silent. This is a fight for the soul of our country, and we need every voice speaking out against this dangerous agenda.
