Opportunities In Illinois
Press Secretary/Digital Director. (Full Time) – The District Office of Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) seeks a creative, strategic, and highly-organized communications professional to serve on our team in northern Illinois. Essential strengths of ideal candidates include strong written and verbal communication skills; exceptional tech, logistical, and troubleshooting skills; the ability to conceive and drive creative strategies; close attention to detail and time management; and the ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and follow through on multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Spanish fluency and/or Illinois ties are strongly preferred.
The position is located in-person in Illinois’ 14th Congressional District with occasional travel to Washington, D.C. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000; title and salary are dependent on experience and qualifications.
Paid Constituent Services Fellow. (35-40 hours/week) – Constituent Services Fellows work in-person in our Illinois offices for six months and gain experience with a broad range of experiences and responsibilities, with a strong focus on casework and constituent services. These include assisting with logistical and administrative office duties, managing a casework portfolio, planning and outreach at local events, staffing virtual and in-person meetings and events, drafting correspondence and memos, and conducting research. Fellows also will work directly with the communications team, assisting with creating digital content, outreach documents, video clips, graphics, and other materials. Fellows are paid at a rate equivalent to $15/hour and have access to paid sick leave and comp time as well as unpaid personal leave.
Paid District Office Intern. (35-40 hours/week) – Interns work in-person in our Illinois offices for three to four months and gain experience with a broad range of experiences and responsibilities. These include office administration, greeting and assisting visitors and callers, constituent correspondence, planning and staffing virtual and in-person events, researching legislation, assisting with constituent casework and outreach, and attending and reporting on Congressional hearings and briefings on various legislative issues, among others. Interns also will work directly with the communication team, assisting with creating digital content, video clips, graphics, and other materials. Interns are paid at a rate equivalent to $15/hour and have access to paid sick leave as well as unpaid personal leave.
