Dear John,
WE HOPE YOU ARE HEALTHY AND WELL; WE ARE ALL TRYING TO ADJUST TO A NEW
NORMAL AND DOING OUR BEST TO CARRY ON.?
Because even in the midst of this crisis, life goes on. We get up, we get
dressed (maybe) and we eat breakfast. Some of us have kids who look at us
over their cereal bowls and want to know what to expect. It can be hard to
know what to tell them.
I am grateful that I am healthy and able to continue doing my job from the
safety of my own home. I am grateful for the network of people who have
rallied around the Texas Campaign to support our work. As I thought about
our mission and impact, it hit me - CAN YOU IMAGINE DISCOVERING AN
UNPLANNED PREGNANCY RIGHT NOW?
Our work is successful because we strengthen and improve the infrastructure
that provides youth with the education and resources needed to prevent
unplanned teen pregnancy. We commit to you that we will keep working to do
so, while helping to keep our community and families safe.
This year we have the opportunity to improve the statewide minimum
standards for sex education in Texas and we intend to allocate every
available resource to do our best to achieve success. Recent polling data
indicates that 82% of Texas voters support an abstinence-plus approach to
sex education that teaches students abstinence is the safest choice, but
also provides medically accurate information about topics such as
contraception, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and healthy
relationships. We will continue to share updates about that work over the
summer.
We are grateful for your support and could not do this work without the
backing of the community - especially now. Please consider making a
contribution by donating here [3].
All my best,
Julia Kranzthor, Development Director
