Pennsylvania is a swing state, through and through. As voters, we're used to being overwhelmed by phone bank callers, door-knockers, television and radio ads, and digital media in the final months and weeks leading up to an election.
But out-of-state money's influence in the 2024 election was unprecedented. Even for the Keystone State:
Elon Musk went all-in on Pennsylvania — and helped deliver the White House to Trump
Elon Musk — the world's richest man — dumped millions into our state to help deliver Pennsylvania to Donald Trump. His PAC spent $130 million overall to help Trump and Republicans win in November.
Should the richest man in the world be allowed to spend millions to shift the outcome of what should be a free and fair democratic election? Should anyone? No.
But this has been our reality since 2010. The Supreme Court's Citizens United v FEC ruling left us with a democracy where money can flow into any mailbox, phone, or TV screen, and we have no idea who or how much was spent to influence our democracy.
The system is broken right now, but we have a chance to turn the tide and END Citizens United.
I'm gathering signatures to show Congress the American people are demanding we help overturn this dangerous ruling. Add your name as a grassroots co-signer today to demand an end to Citizens United.
