Donald Trump’s pick to be the next secretary of defense is former Fox News host Pete Hegseth – and his confirmation would be a disaster for the Department of Defense and the men and women who serve in our nation’s military.

Someone with Hegseth's history of credible sexual assault allegations should NOT even be considered for such an important position in our government until the allegations against him are fully investigated.

But last Tuesday, we learned even more about Hegseth from senators on the Armed Services Committee who grilled him about complaints of alcohol abuse, financial mismanagement of organizational funds, and demeaning statements he’s made about women in the military.

Like Matt Gaetz, Hegseth has come dangerously close to securing one of the most influential positions in our government despite being unqualified and scandal-prone – and it's only thanks to his blind loyalty to Trump.

We can still make a difference.

After we spoke out against Gaetz’s nomination as attorney general late last year, he withdrew himself from consideration and won’t be returning to Congress.

Now, it's time to prove once again that our voice matters to stop Pete Hegseth from becoming the next secretary of defense in charge of our nation’s security.
