A wide spectrum of adults may need a legal guardian--including individuals with serious mental illness, intellectual disability, or traumatic brain injury—but this may also leave them vulnerable to guardianship abuse and fraud. It’s important to understand the roles and legal authority of guardians and conservators to ensure they’re acting in the best interests of a vulnerable adult.
