Speaking of speech… let’s talk about ways that the second Trump term can be a consequential one for First Amendment rights on day two and beyond… ICYMI, I outlined a few suggestions in a Wall Street Journal op-ed last month. In short, Trump needs a D.O.G.E. for free speech to reform several obvious targets: New rules for federal bureaucrats to prevent censorship requests to social media platforms Clarify IRS rules on nonprofits’ speech to prevent more self-censorship Repeal Securities and Exchange Commission limits on political donations There’s plenty more where that came from—but these actions alone would do much to cement his legacy as a “free speech president.” Cordially, David Keating P.S. – In the meantime, we’ll still be fighting for free speech rights either way.
