Hi John,

Yesterday, we saw the beginning of the next Trump Administration. In word and action, it is not off to a good start.

Donald Trump prioritized the front-row seats of the wealthiest billionaires in the world to witness him take the oath of office as President of the United States. Representing trillions of dollars in the Capitol Rotunda, it is clear who is driving the agenda of the new Administration.

In his inaugural address, President Trump chose to focus on himself, the past election, and the telling of falsehoods. Instead of making a real impact in the lives of Americans, he’s kicking off his term by committing to a destructive tax and tariff agenda and pledging to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

With Trump’s first executive actions, he sided with criminals who attacked our democracy, withdrew from our global fight against climate change, and unleashed some of the most extreme policies in modern history on our nation.

Our country – our people – deserve better. We should be doing everything possible to improve the lives of Rhode Islanders and lower costs for working people. I stand ready to work with anyone to build on the progress we have seen over the last four years and go even further.

Make no mistake: despite the headwinds we’re facing, I’ll work to expand economic opportunity and bring people together. I’ll fight to defend our values and combat extremism. And we have 651 days until the 2026 midterm elections to win back the House majority.
