John,
President Trump has signed an Executive Order to begin to restore the travel ban that targeted Iranians in his first term.
The ban is not yet in place. Instead, this order sets up a 60-day process to review which countries to include in a potential ban.
However, this Executive Order goes even further than previous versions of the bans in that it would direct the government to begin to deport certain individuals from banned countries who came to the U.S. over the past four years.
More than 40,000 Iranians alone were granted non-visitor visas after Trump's last ban was repealed and this puts them and our entire community in jeopardy.
We will not stand down as our loved ones could be banned, our friends deported, and our community separated. We are in this together.
We have already begun efforts to prevent a ban from coming to fruition and we will be sharing more information on our strategy and efforts in the coming days. But this is going to be a major undertaking and we need all hands on deck – if you are able, please make a donation to support our efforts.

In the meantime, you can find our initial analysis of the new travel ban order and more information at our Travel Ban Center ( www.niacouncil.org/travelban [[link removed]] ).
More to come,
Jamal Abdi
President, NIAC
