Donald Trump just took the oath of office to become our country’s 47th president.
I know many of us are feeling deep disappointment today and apprehension about the coming years. We worked tirelessly for a different result, but as a democratic republic, we respect and accept the will of the people — whether we end up on the winning or losing side.
My top priority has always been improving the lives of everyday Coloradans. I will work in good faith with anyone who wants to strengthen Colorado and uplift our working families.
Today, we also remember Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of fighting for civil rights, peace, and equality. As I reflect on MLK Jr.’s life, I also stand ready to fight against those who try to take away our hard-won rights and fundamental freedoms.
Over these next four years, we will continue to stand up for justice and equality together.
