Today, I attended the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States.

While I know he was not our candidate of choice to serve in the White House, I recognize the decisions of people in Wisconsin and across the country who voted for Trump. Elections do not always go how we want them to — that’s how our democracy works. But we must respect the outcome and commit to bettering the country in any way we can.

Here is what matters today and always: I will always fight for Wisconsin.

That means working with President Trump to deliver for our state, and standing up to him when he does not have our best interests at heart. Because the reason why I got into public service is to get things done and make life better for the people I represent.

It’s time we lower costs for working families, deliver more affordable health care, continue our fight for a Made in Wisconsin economy, and redouble our effort to pass my Women’s Health Protection Act so every woman has the same rights and freedoms regardless of their state, county, or zip code.
