I know many of us have been dreading today since the election, and I don’t blame you. The new administration means four years of unknowns at best, and grave attacks on democracy at worst. Many Americans are afraid, but I know that we can be better than that. And that’s why instead of focusing on the bad today, I’m thinking about the good: All of the organizations and people who are fighting for our rights, and who will hold this administration accountable at every single turn.

We know the Trump administration will be a friend to the gun lobby. We know they will attack women’s rights at every turn. And we know they will roll back any progress made to stop the climate crisis. But there are so many organizations that will stand in their way.
Organizations like Giffords, who work every single day to end the gun violence crisis in our country. I know first hand what it’s like to lose a loved one to gun violence — something that too many Americans have also felt. And when the Trump administration tries to roll back critical safeguards and put more guns on the street, Giffords will be fighting it from state legislatures all the way to Washington, DC.
Organizations like Planned Parenthood Action Fund, who have been preparing for this threat to our rights since the day Roe v. Wade was overturned, and who are ready to fight in the courts and in Congress to make sure women’s reproductive freedoms are protected.
Organizations like EDF Action PAC, who are fighting to protect our environment and support candidates who will fight back against the Trump administration’s plans to gut climate legislation.
The next four years will not be easy, but we will not give up the critical work of preserving our democracy and our freedoms. I hope you’ll join me in supporting these organizations in that fight.
