John,
This morning, reproductive freedom champion, organizer, and former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards died after spending the last year fighting a rare and incurable form of brain cancer.
It should not surprise anyone who knew Cecile or has watched her decades-long career in activism that, despite a diagnosis that would have slowed down just about anybody else, she remained steadfast in the fight for fundamental human rights — especially the right to control our own bodies. She spent the last several months continuing her work, even speaking at the Democratic National Convention — a true testament to her strength and determination.
EMILYs List has proudly partnered with Planned Parenthood and with Cecile many, many times over the years. We are so deeply grateful for her partnership, and her decades of service to the American people.
Now it's our turn to honor Cecile. We've made a card giving this community a chance to thank her for her years of fierce advocacy and activism. The reproductive freedom movement in America absolutely would not be where it is today without Cecile Richards. To add your name and a message honoring Cecile, sign on here:
Thank you for your support.
And thank you, Cecile. For everything.
