Hi everyone,

Today, as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I joined our community at a celebration in Vienna to reflect on his values and the impact of his vision.

Dr. King believed in justice, equality, and the fundamental dignity of every person. He taught us that true leadership is rooted in service, compassion, and the unwavering pursuit of a better future for all. His dream was of a world where oppression and hate have no place — a world built on love and justice.

And yet, today, Donald Trump took the oath of office. His vision, his rhetoric, and his actions stand in stark contrast to Dr. King’s ideals. Trump has built his platform on division, cruelty, and a determination to undo the progress we’ve fought so hard to achieve.

But today, I’m reminded of Dr. King’s unwavering courage in the face of adversity. He taught us that silence is complicity, and that change doesn’t happen without action.

I promise you that I will carry those lessons with me as I fight for the values Dr. King held dear — justice, equality, and the preservation of democracy.

Let today be a day of reflection and commitment. Together, we can honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing the work he started and ensuring that his dream lives on.
