Hi John,
We at Ipas believe in democracy, human rights and access to unbiased information on sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion. We believe people have the right to live free from bigotry, racism and misogyny. That’s why we will no longer engage on X (formerly Twitter).
While social media can be an important tool for nonprofit organizations, advocates, activists and individuals to engage, share information and build community, it has become increasingly clear that the benefits of being on X are outweighed by the negatives.
By continuing to be active on the platform, we would only condone the actions of far-right, extremist actors who create chaos and spew hate, misinformation and anti-rights rhetoric.
Instead, we will stand for truth, human rights and democracy—especially now.
We are bracing for the next four years. With Trump as U.S. President, we will see a rise in anti-rights policies both domestic and foreign, further restrictions on access to abortion in the U.S. and around the world, and an increase in the spread of misinformation, fake news and consistent attacks on democratic ideals.
That’s why we’re done. We will not participate on a platform run by and for right-wing extremists.
As the social landscape evolves, we'll continue to evaluate which platforms align with our values. For now, please find and engage with us on these channels:
Thanks as always for your support of Ipas and our vital mission.
In solidarity,
Your friends at Ipas
