Email from ENA Trump is now president, but Netanyahu might as well be his co-president. Here’s why: John, Donald Trump is now the 47th president of the United States. At 12:00 pm eastern time today, he was sworn in as president for the second time. But despite the “ceasefire” in Gaza announced late last week, people in the Holy Land were still at severe risk as President Trump put his hand on the Bible. It might as well have been Benjamin Netanyahu taking the oath of office. That’s because Trump and Netanyahu aren’t just birds of a feather. They’re also a match made in hell. In fact, Netanyahu worked behind the scenes to get Trump elected. He did this for over a year by waging a genocidal war on Gaza and refusing to work with Democrats like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris when they said they wanted a ceasefire. Last week, Netanyahu tried to give Trump a HUGE victory: a ceasefire in Gaza. But even though the bombs have stopped for now, it seems to be a ceasefire in name only. Netanyahu said just two days ago that he and Trump agree that any ceasefire will be temporary and that Trump will send unlimited weapons to Israel – weapons that will be used to kill women, children, the disabled, and the elderly. In other words, Israel now has the green light to forge ahead with its genocide at full speed, killing or displacing as many Palestinians as possible. With over 2 million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, this has the sad potential to be the worst genocide this century and the deadliest one since the Holocaust. But as long as genocide enablers are in the halls of power, we’ll be fighting their every move. 55 members of the House Progressive Caucus have voted to enable the ongoing genocide by sending money and weapons to Israel’s military and by refusing to speak out against Trump and Netanyahu. That’s why we’re asking if you can contribute just $25 to mobilize a new generation of leaders who oppose Trump, Netanyahu and their genocide against Palestine. Please donate $25 or whatever you can spare to help us end American support for the genocide in Gaza. Our mission is to ensure that progressive Democrats in Congress don’t bend the knee to Trump and Netanyahu like they’ve been doing since October, 2023. But we can’t do it without wide grassroots support, especially as Trump and his appointees vow to target organizations like us.
