Friends,
I hope you are doing well and spending today’s holiday honoring the life and legacy of a great American – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today’s holiday is a powerful reminder of the progress our country has made in the past century, but it also calls us to continue the unfinished work of Dr. King. Each day in the Senate, I try and live out the values he championed – building an economy that works for all, dismantling discrimination, and protecting democracy.
Let’s be frank: there’s still a long way to go. It isn’t lost on me that I am sending this email on the same day that a man who does not embody Dr. King’s vision for our country is assuming the highest office in the land.
But in the words of Dr. King, the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. All year long in the Senate, I’ll be focused on legislation that makes it easier to buy and afford a home. To help first-time, first generation homebuyers get access to good mortgages. To protect the right to vote. To help aspiring Black and Brown entrepreneurs access capital to start their own business. To lower costs for working families. In Dr. King’s name, I promise to use my seat in the Senate to push towards progress.
I hope you’re celebrating the incredible life of Dr. King today, and have a peaceful and joyful start to the year. If you want to get in touch with me about an issue that is important to you, I encourage you to reach out to me using the form on my Senate website. You can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, or Threads. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
