John, I wanted to take a moment to share a few updates with you and reflect on the significance of Inauguration Day.
Today is a sacred day in America as we come together to celebrate a peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next. As Americans we should unite around this ongoing American experiment and hope for our shared success. Also today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and we are reminded that the power to create change lies within each of us. Dr. King knew that waiting on politicians to act was not enough - real change had to start in our homes, schools, churches, and communities. He brought people together, across racial and economic divides, to drive progress from the ground up. In today’s divided times, we must follow his example and take action where we live. Instead of waiting for Washington, let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy by stepping up and working together in our communities to make a difference. The solution is us. I’m grateful for your continued support as we work toward that goal. |
In case you missed it, I joined NBC's Chuck Todd on his podcast recently to talk about the state of our nation. You can listen to the conversation on iTunes, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. |
Recently, our nation came uncomfortably close to a government shutdown—another example of how our leaders are struggling to address the budget responsibly and tackle key issues facing our country. I shared my thoughts on this in a column for The Hill: |
John - I'm counting on your continued support to ensure that we can keep this important work moving forward.
One of the realities is that we need to raise the funds to continue rallying support for this positive agenda. Will you please consider chipping in to help with this important cause and ensure that we can keep up the fight for a better America? I'm so appreciative of your ongoing support. Thank you. -John |
