As Donald Trump begins his second term in the White House, we face a moment of great uncertainty. We saw what his first term looked like — leading the charge to overturn Roe v. Wade, attacking the Affordable Care Act, and undermining faith in our elections. Now, we need to prepare for the next four years.

That’s why it’s critical that we flip the Virginia Governor’s office blue in November, but before I continue, let me tell you why:

We know that with Trump back in office, our fundamental freedoms may be under attack. That’s why we need a Governor who will stand firm and protect the rights of all Virginians. From safeguarding our voting rights to protecting reproductive freedom, I’ll always put Virginia’s interests first. The job of the Governor of Virginia is to always stand up for our Commonwealth — no matter who the President is.

Virginia is a bellwether state. A strong Democratic victory here sends a powerful message to the rest of the country.

I know that for many, today might feel uncertain — filled with fear, frustration, or anxiety about what lies ahead. I share those emotions, but I’m still filled with optimism about the future of Virginia and the future of our country — what other choice do we have? I believe we owe it to our children and the next generation to make the future better for them.

No matter what’s happening in the White House, I am committed to making sure that Virginia remains a place where our families can thrive, our schools are strong, and our kids are safe.
