In an epic and unprecedented failure of American institutions, norms, and justice, Donald Trump has just been sworn in as president. Again.
If being convicted of 34 felony counts by a jury of ordinary Americans wasn't disqualifying enough, this is a man who has pledged retribution for political adversaries, and who has openly courted the far right with an agenda of division, chaos, and distrust.
It is clear that the way in which Americans interact with and process news and information is fundamentally broken.
But beyond that, it is also clear that we can no longer rely on common sense and legal guardrails to restrain Trump and the worst impulses of MAGA.
