Hi John,

The White House is supposed to be the People's House, but for too long,
it's been a home for Big Money. A handful of mega-donors have way more
influence on the U.S. government than everyday Americans, and the
politicians who are supposed to represent constituents cater to special
interests instead.

It's clear who the priority is — and it's not us.

Donald Trump is taking things to the next level. He's breaking with even
the weak rules that others followed by:

* [ [link removed] ]Openly asking the oil industry for $1 billion to fund his
campaign, promising favorable policies in return.
* Naming Elon Musk — the world's wealthiest man, [ [link removed] ]his number 1
donor, [ [link removed] ]and a major recipient of U.S. government contracts — to
an advisory board, giving him a prominent position to weigh in on
federal government restructuring.
* [ [link removed] ]Accepting lobbyist donations for his inaugural committee — a
departure from the precedent set by previous presidents, including
himself.

And this has all happened before Inauguration Day.

Big donors are taking notice. They understand that money buys them access
and they're willing to pay top dollar for it. But these examples of big
money's influence and blatant conflicts of interest aren't just about one
politician or even one administration. They're the outcome of a political
system that is broken, corrupt, and failing the American people.

Enough is enough.

On this Inauguration Day, here's our pledge:

[ [link removed] ]We will call out corruption and demand politicians work for the
American people, not special interests or billionaires. We will continue
our work to pass laws across the country that curb the influence of big
money and make the government more accountable to the people.
