Dear friend,
Today we take a moment to honor the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — a leader whose courage inspired a movement for justice that shaped our nation’s history.
Dr. King’s unwavering commitment to equality, along with a steadfast belief in nonviolence, changed our world forever — and for the better. Around 60 years ago, this great activist led the fight against discrimination and voter suppression, resulting in the passage of landmark legislation in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
But today also marks the beginning of a challenging new chapter for our country. As Donald Trump is once again sworn into office, the contrast between Dr. King’s vision of justice and Trump’s divisive, dangerous agenda couldn’t be clearer. This is a reminder that the fight for equality and progress is far from over — and it’s one we cannot afford to lose.
Dr. King’s vision of justice goes beyond legal protections. We must build a society in which every person, regardless of background, can live with dignity. Today, we not only reflect on his vision and work, but also recommit ourselves to his dream — one that requires collective action.
We must remember that his tireless efforts impacted generations to come. And as we live through divided and difficult times, leaders like Dr. King give me hope that we can fight for bold changes to bring liberty and justice for all.
So, friend, we urge you to reflect on Dr. King’s life and legacy today and every day. And we will honor his legacy by continuing his work.
