I’ve said it since the election results were confirmed back in November: I understand how frightening, disturbing, and nerve-wracking it is that Trump succeeded in winning a second term, especially after he instigated an insurrection and was found guilty of 34 criminal charges.
It is a disappointing reality, but one that we will get through together.
Trump is being sworn in today surrounded by his cabinet of MAGA loyalists and right-wing billionaires, in addition to far-right Republicans who now hold control over both the House and Senate. We know from their Project 2025 manifesto and promises throughout the campaign trail that they’re going to get right to work pushing a dangerous agenda, including attacks on immigrant families, reproductive rights, environmental protections, and a whole lot more.
As Attorney General of California — the top law enforcement officer of our state — I have been preparing for this day and am ready for the legal fights ahead.
We’ve stood our ground and resisted Trump’s bigoted, backward agenda before, and we’ll do it again. If he or his administration breaks the law, California will take action.
