Dear John,
Today we’re inaugurating a new President, after so much heated politics.
But in just a few days--January 22—we’ll also be observing the 52nd anniversary of the day when the U.S. Supreme Court enshrined the right to abortion in Roe v. Wade.
So much has changed since then—not least the reversal of Roe itself by an increasingly partisan Supreme Court.
But we haven’t changed.
NOW members are as committed to the issues that matter so much to us as we’ve ever been. We know how much depends on our ability to keep fighting at the grassroots, in Washington, and in the states to hold the line for equality and justice.
We can’t go back—we won’t go back! No matter what policies are put forward that threaten women’s rights to economic opportunity; quality, affordable health care and protections against violence, including digital deepfakes and online abuse, NOW will be on the front lines to push back!
And we won’t go back from our commitment to honor the principles of Roe v. Wade and by continuing to fight for access to abortion care and the full range of reproductive health care that must always be a right—not a privilege.
Will you join us there by making a special contribution to NOW today?
I know that many NOW members are still looking for ways to deal with the day-to-day politics, alarming news and toxic speech from elected leaders that can be so discouraging. We can’t just react to every latest headline—we need to put forward sensible solutions and show solid grassroots support.
That’s where you and every NOW member comes in. We’re organizing and growing a resistance movement that’s needed more than ever.
Today is a good day to remind ourselves why we are still in this fight, why our work is still important. And it’s a good day to stay close to the NOW community, as we stand together and get ready for what comes next.
If you agree with the old activist saying, “Don’t mourn—organize!,” please donate today.
Thank you for your activism, commitment and support for NOW.
