Today is Inauguration Day, and I want to give you one critical reminder ahead of today’s disheartening proceedings: Trump, and all that he stands for, is not an aberration.
It is the culmination of an extreme Republican Party racing to the right.
We can’t just wait four years for Trump’s term to be up to fight for our values, because after Trump – someone just as extreme and hateful will fill his spot if we sit on the sidelines now.
Our democracy deserves better.
We can’t wait. The work to build a better world matters most when it is the hardest to do.
You and I have the power to make change. We are armed with the tools to hold our officials accountable at every turn. We are capable of changing hearts and minds in our communities. We can implement the changes we want, even if only at a local level.
