Today, we recommit ourselves to the path of nonviolence.
Fellow Advocate,
Today, we honor the immeasurable legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was an intrepid warrior against racial and economic inequality, a faithful advocate for ending violence, and a brilliant organizer who strategized to build diverse coalitions and local power.
Lesser known are Dr. King’s deep ties to Pennsylvania. It was at the Crozer Theological Seminary near Chester in Delaware County that he was inspired by nonviolent resistance movements, and committed himself to the path of peace.1
Dr. King built his own distinctly American nonviolent movement that empowered ordinary people to do extraordinary work at the local level. In that spirit, as we face dark and difficult roads ahead, our team here at CeaseFirePA is committed to tapping into the deep power of our communities, mobilizing friends, family and neighbors to advocate for policies and programs to end gun violence in Pennsylvania. We hope you’ll join us .
