John,
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recommit to fighting injustice and discrimination. While, the extremists who run our state continue their flagrant disregard for Dr. King's legacy, we are guided by his words that " the time is always right to do what is right [[link removed]] ."
The legislative session started last week, and far-right lawmakers are already working to preserve the status quo of oppression and inequality. Gov. Abbott continues his push to pass private school vouchers — schemes to steal taxpayer money to subsidize tuition at unaccountable private and religious schools that can discriminate against students. This is on top of continued attacks on our religious freedom and censoring what schools can teach about race and identity.
As our leaders continue to willfully ignore Dr. King's words by working against the people they're supposed to represent, it's more apparent than ever that it's up to us, everyday Texans, to drive the change for the future we all deserve. John, will you join us this year? [[link removed]]
