Ottawa County Community Action Agency Honored with Social Justice Award
Ottawa County is honored to announce that OCCAA (Ottawa County Community Action Agency) was recognized with a Social Justice Award by the City of Holland's Human Relations Commission for its programs that empower residents to gain financial independence. OCCAA provides food security, utility assistance, weatherization services, and emergency home repair. Some programs are federally funded, however others require fundraising events like Walk for Warmth [ [link removed] ] or finding creative grants and partnerships, such as food assistance deliveries to seniors in need by way of Door Dash. Social Justice Awards recognize individuals and organizations that exemplify the virtues of social justice by promoting equal opportunity and equal access for all residents in Housing, Education, Government/Community Relations, Health Services, Youth and Lifetime Achievement.
