Friend,

I know there’s a lot going on today, but I wanted to take a moment to remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

To say Dr. King was an exceptional leader would be an understatement. The Civil Rights Movement needed a smart, brave, and passionate leader like him on the frontlines of the fight for equality, and he put his life on the line for what he believed in.

While we’ve made tremendous progress in the past half century, the fight for justice is far from over. Healthcare and housing inequality, environmental racism, and bigotry still persist to this day.

And it’s ironic that on the same day meant to honor MLK’s legacy, we are swearing in a convicted felon as President, who has hurt the Black community and doesn’t understand a thing about justice.

But I’ll take it as a sign to never lose sight of what we’re fighting for and who we’re fighting against.

So today on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let’s resolve to continue organizing and working toward a more perfect union with the same courage and conviction that he did.

Thank you for doing your part,

Haley
