Today, open misogynist and sexual predator Donald Trump is being inaugurated as our next president. Meanwhile, ratification of the ERA is still unlikely despite President Biden’s declaration that he has always believed that men and women deserve equal rights…🙃 We need more women in our government, and it will be up to us to assert our rightful place in this country.

We’ve heard the way Trump and his coalition talk about women. Starting with phrases like “grab her by the pu**y” and, most recently, referring to any accomplished woman in power as a “DEI hire.” We are bracing ourselves for what these ideologies will look like as policies.

We thought today would be a good time to share our plans for the next four years to ensure women do not lose any more of our hard-fought progress under this administration.

We have an exciting twofold strategy for 2025 to increase women’s political power and improve representation:

1. Support candidates in underserved races: We don’t want ANY women to get left behind, regardless of their zip code. We’re not afraid to support candidates running in red, abortion-ban states or other unexpected parts of the country. (As you’ll see below, we know how to win in those places.)

2. Build infrastructure in underserved places: We’ve conducted a deep analysis of the political landscape in many of the states with abortion bans and found that most of them simply don’t have any infrastructure or support systems in place for pro-choice women candidates. Her Bold Move is well-positioned to be the organization that will change that.

We have proven that we can do EVERYTHING we laid out above: Last year, we supported 80 pro-choice, pro-women women candidates from 23 states + 1 U.S. territory against their extremist, anti-choice, anti-women opponents. Many were shocked and impressed to learn that 44% of 2024’s HBM winners came from RED STATES, and 47% were women of color.

2025 will be a year that tests us. It will test our patience, our determination, and our commitment to a better country. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: we must keep up the fight.
