Today, as we witness the inauguration of a new administration, we reflect on the immense challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
At the NYIC, our vision remains unchanged: a New York State that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams. This North Star will guide us as we navigate the uncertainty of the next four years under an administration that has signaled its intent to create havoc and harm—from executive orders that will lead to termination of Humanitarian Parole, and Temporary Protected Status, efforts to end educational rights for immigrant children and birthright citizenship, and the aggressive deportation of immigrants and even U.S. citizens, threatening the safety and unity of our communities and our economy.
But we know this: our communities are strong, and united action is our greatest defense.
The urgency of our work has never been more clear, and we stand ready to act. Together, we will mobilize all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, in a multifaceted effort to protect, defend, and stand up for all newcomers to our city and state.
While we do not know all that the future holds, we are ready to act with courage, with resilience, and with a strong belief in the power of collective action.
Thank you for standing with us.
