John,
Today marks Trump’s second presidential inauguration. As disappointing as the outcome of this election was, it’s nothing we’re not ready to take on.
There is no doubt that fighting back against regressive and harmful policies will be an uphill battle, but there is hope in the smaller wins, including right here in MI-03. We overcame unimaginable odds in 2022 when we flipped this 50-year stronghold and elected the first pro-choice woman to represent West Michigan. Then, last year, despite a rightward shift across the country, voters sent a Democrat back to Congress.
It will take time to rebuild trust with voters and reinforce our democratic process amidst relentless attacks, but I stand firm in that our commitment to our values will overcome attempts to strip us of them. Today, I reaffirm my commitment to protecting a woman’s right to choose, ensuring we have clean air to breathe and water to drink, protecting our kids from gun violence, supporting policies that help families thrive, and so much more.
I’m not backing down in the face of infringements on our democratic process, our freedoms, and the rule of law. I’m also not slowing down my efforts to claim another victory here in MI-03 next election cycle. Our team is already working on building the momentum needed to take on my Republican opponent, and we could use your help. Anything you can contribute to my campaign will go a long way in helping us set the foundation to fight back.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.:
"We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."
Onward,
Hillary
