This is Bob. He was a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He served during the Tet Offensive in the area near the demilitarized zone.

Within two years of coming home, he developed Hodgkin’s Disease, the most common manifestation of exposure to Agent Orange. He fought a valiant battle against the disease before it took his life at age 34.

He left behind his parents, his wife and two children. His mother struggled with his loss the rest of her life.

He also left behind three siblings, including his youngest brother. Me.

It’s Memorial Day. I ask you to please join me in stopping and reflecting about the meaning of this day.

Thank you.

- Denny
