Tomorrow marks a devastating moment in our nation's history as Donald J. Trump is inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States. His return to the White House is a dire threat to the democratic values of liberty, equality, and reproductive freedom.

During his first administration, we witnessed the dangerous consequences of anti-rights extremism: the overturning of Roe v. Wade, near-total abortion bans in 17 states, and the creation of maternal health deserts as obstetricians fled states hostile to reproductive care. Patients were left to cross state lines, navigate insurmountable barriers, or forego care altogether. The harm was unprecedented—and it was only the beginning.

A second Trump administration threatens even greater destruction... attempts to ban medication abortion by mail, a vital resource in a post-Roe America... expanded "gag rules" silencing organizations that provide or advocate for abortion care globally... and increased prosecutions of patients and providers under restrictive abortion laws.

But we are ready. The Center for Reproductive Rights is mobilized to fight back at every level.

• In the courts: We will challenge harmful policies, from attempts to enact a national abortion ban to efforts to restrict access to medication abortion.
• In the states: We will protect and expand reproductive rights where they are under attack and champion bold policies in reproductive freedom strongholds.
• Around the world: We will defend against efforts to erode UN protections for reproductive rights and push for progress in countries worldwide.

The fight ahead will not be easy, but is a fight we must take on. Most Americans believe in reproductive freedom, as evidenced by the passage of state initiatives in seven of 10 states where measures were on the ballot, protecting abortion rights even in this divisive climate. Together, we will harness this momentum to counter the attacks of the emboldened opposition.
