Serving as Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee
Last week, I was renamed the Vice Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit.
I am honored to continue serving on this critical committee for Georgia's farmers under Chairman GT Thompson's leadership.
Our farmers faced tremendous challenges last year from natural disasters, burdensome regulations from the Biden-Harris Administration, and more. I look forward to working with the Trump Administration and my colleagues in Congress to pass a Farm Bill that works for production agriculture and to rectify many of the policies that make it more difficult for the best stewards of our land to do their jobs.
Serving on House Armed Services, House Intelligence, and House Rules Committees
I am also honored to serve again on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), and the House Rules Committee in the 119th Congress.
With nine major military installations in Georgia, HASC considers many policies that are vital to our state and district, such as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I look forward to representing Moody and Robins Air Force Bases on both HASC and HPSCI this Congress.
Passing Legislation to Protect Women
The House passed two bills that protect women in America last week, H.R. 28, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act and H.R. 30, the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.
H.R. 28 defines gender based on reproductive biology and genetics under Title IX, which prohibits males identifying as women from competing in women’s sports with federal funding and ensures women and girls’ fair competition in sports events.
H.R. 30 closes a loophole in immigration law by adding inadmissibility for specific domestic violence-related offenses and creates grounds for the deportation of illegal aliens for sexual exploitation and violent crime.
I was proud to support both pieces of legislation.
