John, we wanted to make sure you saw a few recent headlines:
AP: Amazon to contribute $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund. Meta is also donating $1M
BBC: Boeing and Google each give $1m for Trump inauguration
Axios: Apple CEO Tim Cook donates $1 million to Trump inauguration
Facebook, Ford, Intuit, Toyota, PhRMA, Goldman Sachs, General Motors, Bank of America, AT&T and Stanley Black & Decker pledged to no longer fund election deniers. But now, they’re bankrolling Trump’s inauguration. That’s the height of hypocrisy.
John, it’s clear what’s happening. During Trump’s first term, diplomats and business representatives patronized Mar-a-Lago and other Trump properties to earn credit with the president and call in favors. Now that Donald Trump is taking office again, corporations see donating to his inauguration as a way to get in his good graces and potentially earn favorable treatment down the line.
Now more than ever, we need to ensure that special interests and the rich and powerful don't receive special treatment from the incoming Trump administration.
CREW is committed to holding the line and providing crucial oversight, just as we did during the first Trump administration. Make a donation today to help us continue our important work →
