Fellow Republicans,

Our Republican Supervisors have been pushing to reopen our county safely. Religious worship is a key to mental and emotional health for most of our society and Supervisors Bartlett and Do recently sent a letter to the Governor, but today’s revised order from the Governor is overly restrictive and vague. We must do more.

Tomorrow, Chairwoman Michelle Steel will introduce a resolution to the Orange County Board of Supervisors which will support fully reopening houses of worship countywide. Orange County has already been approved to enter Stage 2 of reopening, but placing a ban on singing and limiting houses of worship to a 100-person maximum when big box stores have hundreds is unjust. Our Governor must recognize that our 1st Amendment rights are non-negotiable and that in person religious services must be deemed “essential”. Just days ago, over 1,200 pastors and 10,000 religious leaders across our state sent a Declaration of Essentially to the Governor, and they need our support.

The Board of Supervisors will convene Tomorrow, May 26th at 9:30 AM to discuss this proposed resolution. Please call and email the Board of Supervisors now and encourage them to support religious liberty.
