Dear John:

This week, House Republicans continued our work to reverse the damage done by the Biden-Harris Administration.

First, we passed the Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act, which amends Title IX to protect the law's intent - to ensure equal opportunity for women in sports - and the integrity of women's athletics. Last year, the outgoing Administration finalized a rule that would change Title IX so that if schools banned biological males from competing in female sports, they would lose any federal funding they receive. My House Republican colleagues and I know that there are biological differences between men and women and ignoring these differences in sports puts women and girls at an inherent disadvantage, robbing them of rewards for their hard work and perseverance. This legislation states that, in the athletic context, sex must be recognized based only on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth.

We also passed the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act to combat the influx of dangerous criminals that have entered our country through Biden's open borders. Every American deserves to feel safe in their community, and this legislation ensures illegal aliens that have been convicted of hideous crimes like domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse are deported.

A Letter to President-Elect Trump on Defending Life

As Donald Trump prepares to take the oath of office, the Senate and House Pro-Life Caucuses have sent a letter of support for the reinstatement of the life-affirming victories from his first term.

The Pro-Life Caucus is prepared to back President Trump's efforts to remove federal involvement in the promotion of abortion that we have seen during the Biden Administration. And we look forward to returning to his comprehensive approach of supporting pregnant and parenting women as well as their children, both born and unborn.

Balancing the Budget

We all know that government spending is out of control. The American people balance their budgets at home, and the federal government should be expected to do the same.

House Republicans are committed to get spending under control, and this week I co-sponsored a Constitutional amendment that would prohibit the amount of money being spent by the government from exceeding the amount of money coming into the government unless Congress authorizes the excess by a three-fifths roll call vote of each chamber.

There are a lot of ways Congress is looking to reduce spending and paying off our debt and this amendment is a strong step in the right direction.

Gas Water Heaters CRA

As one of his final acts, Joe Biden doubled down on his efforts to to limit consumer choice and force families to spend thousands of dollars on electric appliances. Just after the holidays, the Department of Energy published a rule that would prohibit the sale of non-condensing, natural gas-fired water heaters starting in 2029. This means that nearly 40% of tankless water heaters currently on the market would be banned.

This rule burdens the electric grid, would unnecessarily force families to spend thousands more dollars to replace their water heaters, and limit consumer choice. That is not what America is about. This week, I cosponsored a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to disapprove of this rule and prevent it from going into effect.
