Andrew Reappointed To Chair Cybersecurity Subcommittee

This week, it was announced that Andrew will continue his service on the House Committee on Homeland Security for a third term. As part of this role, Andrew has been reappointed as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection. "Safeguarding our homeland, strengthening national security, and protecting Americans are not just priorities—they are a national imperative. That’s why I am proud to continue my service on the Homeland Security Committee, and particularly as Chairman of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee," Andrew said in a statement.

"In an ever-changing world, and in the face of escalating attacks by Salt Typhoon and other PRC-backed actors, we must stay vigilant and persistent in addressing emerging threats to ensure the safety, freedom, and prosperity of every citizen," Andrew continued. "I also look forward to serving on the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, where my colleagues and I will continue working to strengthen port security and deter malign activity across our nation’s maritime borders. I am proud of the progress we have made in strengthening the resilience of our critical infrastructure and look forward to building on those efforts this Congress.”

Garbarino Secures $18.6M in DOT Grants for Long Island

Congressman Andrew Garbarino (R-Bayport) announced the award of two significant grants, totaling $18,640,000, from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for vital infrastructure projects in New York’s 2nd Congressional District. The funding, which Garbarino actively supported through advocacy and letters of endorsement, is set to improve safety, traffic flow, and community connectivity across Long Island. A $2,240,000 grant was allocated to this initiative under the DOT’s Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program. The project focuses on eliminating two grade crossings along Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) infrastructure in Islip.The funding will support essential planning, preliminary engineering, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) activities to grade-separate Ocean Avenue and Pond Road...The second grant, totaling $16,400,000, was awarded through the DOT’s RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) Grant Program. This funding will finance the construction of a 12-mile segment of the Long Island Greenway (LIG) from Brentwood to Bethpage...Garbarino emphasized the importance of securing federal funding to address local infrastructure needs. 'Bringing federal dollars home to my district is one of the most rewarding aspects of representing Long Island in Congress,' said Garbarino. 'These grants will advance critical local infrastructure priorities designed to improve the quality of life and economic prosperity of our communities. I’m pleased that the Department of Transportation recognized the merit of these projects, and I look forward to seeing them come to fruition.' These projects represent a significant step forward in enhancing Long Island’s transportation infrastructure, promoting safety, and creating opportunities for recreation and sustainable development.

Recognizing Local Eagle Scouts in Bohemia and Center Moriches

Two Eagle Scout Courts of Honor were recently held to recognize four exceptional young leaders for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Ryan Homayoon, Joshua Matthew Schultzer, Anthony Giovani Ortiz, and Noah Louis Reed were honored for reaching this milestone attained by only 4% of Scouts. Andrew was proud to provide each with Congressional Certificates of Recognition for this remarkable accomplishment.

Honoring Dedication at the East Farmingdale Fire Company

The East Farmingdale Fire Company Annual Installation Dinner was held this weekend to honor exceptional service and dedication. Outgoing leaders recognized included Chief Scott Lewis, Director Yobany Amaya, and President James Quinn Sr. Longevity of service awards were presented to members celebrating decades of commitment: James Maniscalco for 20 years; Michael Greco and Joseph Iuzzini for 30 years; Ex-Chief Duane Welliver for 40 years; Ex-Captain Wade Hults Sr., Guy Caputo, and Kenneth Kaulfold for 45 years; Michael Baymack, Ex-Chief Charles Crimi, and Ex-Captain John P. Welliver for 50 years; and Ex-Chief Alfred Capone and John Bevacqua for 55 years of service. Andrew was proud to provide Congressional Certificates of Recognition and Capitol-flown flags to commemorate this remarkable dedication to the community. He will always stand with our first responders and honor their commitment to keeping us safe.

CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Assisting Constituent With Passport Delivery

A constituent recently reached out to Andrew's office for help after experiencing delays in the delivery of her new passport, which was sent to the wrong address. With upcoming travel plans, she urgently needed a resolution. Andrew’s casework team worked with the National Passport Center (NPC) to have the original passport invalidated and a new one issued. The NPC coordinated with DHL to ensure the passport was delivered at no additional cost to the constituent. Thanks to these efforts, the new passport successfully arrived in time for her travel.

Andrew Introduces Bill To Repeal SALT Deduction Cap

This week, Andrew introduced the Securing Access to Lower Taxes by ensuring (SALT) Deductibility Act, a bipartisan bill that would allow taxpayers to fully deduct state and local taxes on their federal income returns. The legislation seeks to repeal the current $10,000 cap on SALT deductions, offering much-needed relief to hardworking families. “Since the SALT deduction cap was implemented, hardworking Americans from states like New York have been suffering from unfair double taxation—all while receiving a fraction of what they contribute in federal funds,” said Andrew, Co-Chair of the SALT Caucus. “Enough is enough. We are calling for a full repeal of the cap that disproportionately impacts middle-class families in our districts.” Andrew is proud to be leading the fight to secure SALT relief for Long Islanders. Andrew Selected As Vice Chair of Problem Solvers Caucus

This week, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced its Executive Council for the 119th Congress. Andrew will serve as Vice Chair of the Caucus“Bipartisan cooperation is the cornerstone of lasting, resilient policymaking,” said Andrew. “There are plenty of areas where we can build consensus and deliver real results for our constituents — if we work together. That’s why I first joined the Problem Solvers Caucus and why I am proud to enter my third term in Congress as Vice Chair.”

Andrew Helps Introduce Bill to Combat Sex Trafficking

Andrew joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to introduce H.R. 520, the Empowering Law Enforcement to Fight Sex Trafficking Demand Act. This legislation aims to support critical anti-human trafficking initiatives and strengthen efforts to combat sex trafficking across the nation. Andrew remains committed to protecting vulnerable individuals and providing law enforcement with the tools they need to address these heinous crimes. This bill reflects his dedication to ensuring the safety and security of communities nationwide.
