Hi Friend,

Today we take a moment to remember our nation’s fallen military service members this Memorial Day. I am honored as Kim’s cousin to share my support of her campaign as she continues her life-long mission to safeguard and promote the values for which so many made the ultimate sacrifice in our nation’s military conflicts.

The tradition of public service runs deep in our family. Kim’s father served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps reserves. My father earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while serving as a Marine on Okinawa. Our Uncle Sam (yes, we had an Uncle Sam) readied troops as an Army drill instructor before starting a long career as a military aircraft engineer.   This band of three brothers lost dear friends and cherished family members in World War II and the Korean War.

Kim was a strong supporter of my naval career from the U.S. Naval Academy until I retired at Naval Base Kitsap after commanding USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735-Blue Crew). Kim has honored our family tradition of public service and sacrifice by dedicating her life to supporting the American ideals of representative democracy and the rule of law.

America faces some growing challenges worthy of its Greatest Generation. Kim brings the integrity, experience, and dedication so desperately needed as we weather another storm and strive to live up to the values, vision, and legacy of those whom we honor on Memorial Day.  There is a good reason Kim is a nationally-known expert on how to run elections so that everyone’s voice is heard—she knows what the heck she’s doing.

Thank you for your attention, and may God continue to bless our wonderful nation,

Commander Michael Dobbs USN (Retired)
