| Progress is not linear. Never has that been more true than it is right now, just two days before Inauguration Day.
To all the Marylanders who are discouraged by the result of this election, but hopeful that tomorrow will be a better day, I want to make you this promise:
As your Senator, I will make your care my concern, your hope my focus, and your dreams my mission in the days and years to come.
In moments when it feels we’ve taken a step backwards in our march of progress, I will do whatever it takes to keep us moving forward.
My campaign here in Maryland was centered on the continued fight for our freedoms, for economic opportunity, and for safe communities. I’m here because folks like you believe in a future in which our children don’t just get by, but live out their dreams.
Those weren’t just talking points, but a blueprint for the kind of optimistic, peaceful future we can build together.
That is the work that lays before us. And I'll be honest: The road ahead will not be smooth. It’ll have bumps and potholes; wrong turns and dead ends. But I know we can brave it together.
