I’ve only got a few minutes before I head back out on the campaign trail, but my team asked me to quickly write a message to my most devoted supporters, so here it goes:
I know how exhausting the past few years have been.
We’ve watched as MAGA extremists dismantled norms, spread lies about our elections, and used their power to roll back decades of progress. After the November defeat, many of us felt hopeless—like no matter how hard we fight, our democracy keeps slipping further out of reach.
I feel it too. But here’s the truth: the most important thing we can do right now is dust ourselves off, and figure out a path forward.
I’m Josh Weil, a public school teacher and Democrat running in the special election for Florida’s 6th Congressional District. This race is the first major election of 2025—and our best chance to stop Trump’s momentum before it begins.
If we win here, we don’t just flip a seat. We deliver a crushing blow to Trump’s MAGA movement, halt their dangerous agenda in Congress, and show the nation that Democrats are ready to fight for a better future.
