Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. | On Tuesday, Speaker Johnson and House Republicans unanimously passed The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Although the American people made it crystal clear in November that they want commonsense legislation like this bill, only two Democrats voted to keep men out of women's sports. This act will ensure women and girls in sports are protected. Following its passage, Speaker Johnson hosted a press conference with NCAA All American athlete Riley Gaines and other Republicans to discuss this victory for American women. Biden's border policies have welcomed dangerous criminals into our communities, making our country less safe. Speaker Johnson and his House Republican colleagues stepped up and delivered legislation to protect the American people. Sadly, only 28% of House Democrats joined in support of this bill. | On Tuesday, Speaker Johnson announced that the flags at the U.S. Capitol will fly full-staff to celebrate our country coming together behind the inauguration of our 47th President, Donald Trump. The flags will be lowered back to half-staff the following day to continue honoring the life of President Jimmy Carter. Under the leadership of President Trump and Governor Landry, Louisiana will have a reinvigorated energy industry, booming economy, and safer communities. Louisiana has a bright future ahead! | Before running for Congress, Speaker Johnson spent decades defending our God-given rights and religious liberty as a constitutional law attorney in Louisiana. On January 16th, we celebrated National Religious Freedom Day, remembering how we are blessed to live in a nation founded upon religious freedom. We must continue to pray for those around the world who are still fighting for this right. | Following President Biden's farewell address, Speaker Johnson joined Sean Hannity on FOX News to discuss this administration's legacy of utter failure.
