New Pennsylvania Project

Fellow activist,

As we prepare for another critical election year, we wanted to make sure you saw this article published by 90.5 WESA.

Democrats hold a 5-2 advantage on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, but that could change in November. The retention of three Democratic justices – Christine Donahue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht – will be on the ballot, and while these races often get little attention, they are shaping up to draw national attention as key battleground races in 2025.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court retention could be the next ugly political fight

As the article notes, “A handful of justices can, after all, have an outsized effect on a slew of crucial issues.” From voting rights to climate justice, education, health care, and much more, justices have the power to impact the day-to-day lives of Pennsylvanians, and it’s critical that we prepare now to ensure that voters understand what’s at stake and are ready to turn out and make their voices heard.

2025 is going to be another high-stakes election year, and with the new administration coming in who is determined to strip away our rights, it’s more critical than ever before that we maintain control of the PA Supreme Court. We need your help to make that happen. Will you rush $25 or whatever you can to support our efforts to mobilize and educate voters ahead of these critical judicial elections? →

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
